Another Rainy Weekend

It rained all weekend! Again! Can't change the weather, but I did spend some quality time with the new 50mm lens. Tried it out yesterday and I like it. There's hardly any depth of field. But as long as your subject is in focus, that doesn't matter much, does it? My portrait class is over and I can get back into the studio, if I can take some of my focus (no pun intended) away from my photography.

My New Lens Arrived

Being the total photo-geek that I've become, I thought it was about time to add to my lens collection. So I bought the Canon 50mm f/1.8 II prime lens. I've only taken a couple of test shots with it, so no reviews yet. I'm looking forward to taking it into the field soon.
Oh, there's still time if you want to become one of my random portrait subjects.

Random Musings For Another Week

I was booby-touched yesterday. I wouldn't have thought anything of it , if I hadn't read about the same thing happening on Mike Doughty's Blog last month. Scroll down to the bottom of the page for his story. Here's mine. I was standing there, pausing to look at something for a minute. She was behind me and kind of brushed up against my arm, unexpectedly. Things like that only happen in the city.
My portrait class is going well (reason I was in the city yesterday!) I have an interesting assignment for this week. I have to approach somebody at random and convince them to let me take their portrait. Then I have to send them a print. Any volunteers?

Listening To:

Mike Doughty - Skittish/Rockity Roll
The Raconteurs - "Steady As She Goes (Acoustic Version)" (Free download from iTunes a couple of weeks ago)
Dropkick Murphy's - "Tessie" It's Red Sox season!
Neil Young - "Greatest Hits"
The Replacements - Pleased To Meet Me (The album that got me through high school!)

Well, Duh!

Update: My Photos

Since I don't have time to make a website, I've added some recent shots to my old Flickr gallery. Enjoy!

Busy, Busy, Busy

Wow, it's been a while. I've been sketching, taking pictures, working on music, re-organizing my space, working at the day-job, and it's been two weeks since I've posted here. Started the summer class and it seems interesting, but I'm going to need to get my chops together quick! Plans to shoot photos for a model's book fell through, so I've got more time to work on my own.

Listening To:

Pearl Jam - Pearl Jam (I gave up on these guys after their third album and after a decade they finally come back with something that makes me realize why they used to be one of my favorite bands!)

Matthew Sweet & Susanna Hoffs - Under the Covers (Totally Retro, Totally Cool, not to mention I had the biggest crush on Susanna in Junior High!)

Yes - "Heart Of The Sunrise" (A beautiful song, I'm learning to play the bassline for it!)
