I Usually Don't Get Political But...

This is an outrage!
Apparently whenever people can't be bothered to monitor what their children are watching/playing with/doing/hearing, etc., they look to the government to do something about the sex/violence/nudity/profanity their child saw or heard. And Congress and the FCC are more than happy to comply. `You can always turn the television off and of course block the channels you don't want, but why should you have to?'' says FCC Chairman Kevin Martin.
Well there's this little thing called the 1st Amendment the Founding Fathers put in the Constitution all those years ago. Journalists live by and are wrongfully imprisoned because of it. Free expression of ideas, it's what separates us from the dictatorships and totalitarian regimes! It's what allows evangelists, pornographers, bigots, and hatemongers to run the streets of this fine land, instead of being locked in their own Abu Ghraib!
I don't think it's the downfall of society because some kid inadvertantly sees a naked breast or hears an obscenity. It's when a parent can't be bothered to monitor what shows their children are watching, the video games they're playing, the songs they're listening to, what they're downloading from the internet. Parents, take an interest in what your child is doing, don't ask Congress or the FCC to do it for you.
